I am offering for auction this "Sterling Silver" Dunhill Wick Lighter. The lighter measures 2 3/4" tall 9/16 thick and 2" in width, and weighs just under 3&1/2 ounces. The lighter appears to be in good condition and all moving parts are functioning. Needs a flint & fluid. I attempted to take pictures from every angle and hope this will allow those who know more than I to ascertain its condition & age. See photos. On the front & back of the lighter is a split Maria Tsa Thaler 1780 Coin & attached to the fill cap is an ETHIOPIAN 10 MATONAS or BIRR coin, I cannot tell which. The art work seems to fit the north African region I assume the late 20s to mid 30s is my best guess. I am starting the auction at $25.00 with no reserve . "note" This piece is worth more than $25.00 if melted for the silver content alone, What a steal! Payment may be made by Paypal (only). It has been pointed out to me that this may not be an authentic Dunhill.. It was sold to me in 1979 and was described as such. Any visible markings to prove such are covered by the coins or the engravings. I admit I am not an authority on ether the coins or the lighter. This is why I placed so many photographs. I will forward any new information I can find to prospective buyers as it becomes available to me. âeoeBottom lineâe The photos are of what you will receive.
