Sterling Silver Overlay Glass 8 pc Water Set Pitcher ++
Fine early American glass, exceptional floral engraving and heavy sterling silver overlay in Lily of the Valley pattern. Pitcher with lid, plus six matched tumblers. Maker unknown, the only mark I find is faint "Sterling" in the overlay. Pitcher is big, 10" tall with lid in place, 5" across base. Please note detailed engraving with fine lines in body, floral on sides, a big flashed sunburst star in base, plus notched handle. Overlay is elaborate and highest quality, including the smooth round finial knob on lid, and a large oval below the spout, for a monogram but t is none Tumblers are 3-7/8" tall, slightly tapered, 2-3/4" across rim, 2-3/8" across base. All pieces flouresce light green in UV test, this is early American Glass, possibly Victorian, exceptionally well done and gorgeous. Condition is near perfect throughout. Pitcher has no damage at all, base shows minimal wear. Tumblers also fine but one has a V-shaped crack from the rim down about 1-1/2". The overlay is 100% intact, no issues whatever. This is stunning set, offered as found, a wonderful form and exceptional Sterling work.
