STERLING SILVER PROOF SET OF 200 MEDALS, FIRST EDITION, 1776-19 75 , Serial No. 06284 , issued by The Franklin Mint commemorating the first 200 years of the history of the United States, plus 2 extra medals (1958 and 1959) for a total of 202 medals. Medals are large size, 44mm. (1 3/4") in diameter, about the size of a half-dollar. Each First Edition proof medal is individually hallmarked, indicating the material, and has serial number on its edge. All medals are in mint condition. We estimate the weight of a medal at 1.3 oz. avoir., for a total weight of 262 oz. Converting to troy oz. we have an approximate weight of 238 troy oz. (1.095 - 1 troy oz.) The first 64 medals are housed in Volume I of an album, covering The First Hundred Years; the balance, 136 plus extra 2, are still in the original wrappers. We do not have Volume 2 of the album. Included with the medals are the following:

--Wooden storage chest with plaques for displaying all 200 medals (10 plaques of 20 slots ea.)

--Lucite holders - lids and bases

--File containing pamphlets on each of the medals issued

--As a bonus also included is a collector's kit.

On the obverse of each medal is "The Event" of the particular year, and on the reverse is a chronology of the most significant events of that year. No international bidding on this item. NO SECOND CHANCE OFFERS. Starting bid at $1,200--NO RESERVE. Good luck!

NOTE: Shipment will be in two boxes, ea. weighing about 26 lbs. The medals will be separate and insured. T will be a flat rate of $100 subject to adjustment, depending on actual shipping costs.
