Steve Fossett & Einar Enevoldson FLOWN & Signed Cover
First Ever Glider Flight into the Earth's Stratosp "Perlan" High Performance Research Glider On August 29th, 2006, Einar Enevoldson and Steve Fossettmade a record breaking flight in El Calafate , Argentina . Fossett and Enevoldson set a new world glider altitude record. This was the first ever glider flight into the earthâe(tm)s stratosp Wearing NASA spacesuits and flying along the crest of the Andes, pilot Steve Fossett and co-pilot Einar Enevoldson took their âe~Perlanâe(tm) high performance research glider on the worldâe(tm)s first stratospheric glider flight surfing the Andean âe~mountain waveâe(tm) to a height of 50,699 feet (15,453 m) while breaking the previous record by 1,662 ft (507m) . The old record 49,009 ft (14,940 m) was set by Robert Harris in 1986 in California . The Fossett/Enevoldson flight was a victory for careful weather planning, precision flying, experience and teamwork. Speaking of teamwork, the members of the Perlan Glider team received duly-signed autographed envelopes (covers) that were flown in the glider on this record setting flight and duly-signed small color photographs as a token of appreciation for all their hard work that went into making this flight successful. One of Steve Fossettâe(tm)s private pilots was presented with the items that are being offered in this Ebay auction. This is the only set available from the Fossett pilot. My name is Kevin and I reside in Kansas . In February and March of 2005, I covered Steve Fossettâe(tm)s take off and landing in the Virgin Atlantic Global Flyer for the readers of the CollectSpace website. My work can be seen at /ubb/Forum23/HTML/001506.html and I can tell you that I had the time of my life covering this flight for a first-rate website. On Friday, March 7, 2008, I received an email from a current pilot for the Fossett family. I was informed that the Fossett family pilot had a large collection of Steve Fossett memorabilia including signed letters, envelopes, photographs, and a large global Flyer model that the pilot was interested in selling. The pilot enlisted my help in estimating the value of these items and sought information about how to sell them. After an exchange of several emails and phone conversations, I agreed to take possession of the items and sell them for this Fossett family pilot. This auction is for the following items: One Steve Fossett & Einar Enevoldson Flown and Hand-Signed "Perlan" Glider Envelope (Also Known as âeoeCoverâe) which is Numbered 81 of 206. As stated above, this envelope/cover was flown in the glider on the record setting flight . The envelope has a postal cancellation in blue ink from El Calafate, Argentina, dated 29 AGO 2006. One 3x5 (approx size) glossy color photograph on Fujicolor Crystal Archive paper of Steve and Einar with the "Perlan" Glider. Photo is hand-signed in black ink by Steve Fossett and Einar Enevoldson and was contained in the envelope numbered 81 of 206 when it was received by me from the pilot for the Fossett family. One unsigned letter titled "INTO THE STRATOSP WITHOUT AN ENGINE" which accompanied the envelope & photo and which provides a brief description of the flight. I have done my best to give you as much detail as I can about this group of items. However, if you have additional questions then please feel free to email me through the Ebay âeoemy messagesâe system. I will consider all sales final so please ask any questions that you may have before bidding. All items paid for with Paypal, postal money order or bank cashiers check will be shipped upon receipt of payment. Tfore, I wa...
