This auction is foreight, four piece place settings of beautiful, traditional redware pottery (1½ pieces are missing). The set was made by Staten Island, NY Potter Steve Nutt. Each piece is hand turned and decorated and is signed and dated. These were commissioned for me in 2002. I worked for Mr. Nutt for a few years when I lived in Staten Island, he is an amazing artist. I used these dishes for many years and just wanted something more modern. The set consists of 8 large plates (about 10.5-11"), 7 small plates (about 7.5-8"), 8 bowls (7.5-8"), and 8 mugs (3" diameter X 4" high). All the items are made from red clay and have bands of color. T are 2 of each piece in each color except w noted below: White Bright Yellow - only 1 yellow bowl Royal Blue - 1 bowl has a slight crack Olive Green - 1 small green plate is missing and t are 3 green bowls. T is a picture of everything and a picture of the green place setting. I am not sure why the bowls show gray lines in the photos. I think it may be the flash or the light in the room. I assure you they are just as glossy as the plates show. T is some crazing on a few of the pieces, but nothing serious. A note about traditional redware pottery: the bottoms of the pieces are not glazed (see pic) so you have to make sure that everything is completely dry before putting it away. If you do not, it will mold. If you are willing to take the extra step of care, this tableware is absolutely stunning on a table. The durability of this pottery is incredible. The only reason two items broke was due to fast temperature change (from oven to cold water). All the items are oven, dishwasher, and microwave safe. The clay, glaze, and under-glaze used is 100% food safe.
