This is a Very Rare pottery item! Made at the turn of the century by James Stiff & Sons of Lambeth in London (1863-1913) This beautiful stoneware jug is around 8" in height and has absolutely no chips cracks or marksIt is impressed with the name of James Stiff & Sons on the bottom and also impressed with the number 14.It is in remarkable condition for its age and would be an asset to any collector.James Stiff used to work for Doulton & Watts in 1830 and left to set up his own factory producing stoneware and after his death the factory business in Fulham was bought by Doulton in 1913The writing on this jug says clearly 'With compliments from W.J.Moore Duke of Sussex Commercial Road Peckham 1909' The Duke of Sussex Pub opened in 1906 in Peckham and is still serving today! Item will be sent insured and well packed! There is a reasonable reserve this item is over 100 years old!!
