This stoneware has been called the Tupperware of the 19th century ! MOYER BLUE DECORATED STONEWARE JUG-HARRISBURG, PA says #2 . Offered is a beautiful 2 gallon stoneware jug by Moyer. Moyer only made stoneware from 1858-1860 in Harrisburg, PA. The jug is marked Harrisburg, PA and features very nice blue decoration . It measures apprx 15” high , 2 1/2" hole and lip and 7 1/4” across the base. One side has an indent w it was fired that way .The other side has a hole out also . I think this was also before firing....White mark on the top edge lip-like a chalk mark .Also a small white 1/4" mark on the side near the blue stem. Little chip at bottom edge of base . .T are no hairlines on this piece or any repairs .Pretty blue decoration..Great for Pennsylvania Art Lovers . They talk of this maker in the book - Decorated Stoneware Of Cowden, by Matthew R. Miller - the antique blue decorated stoneware produced in Harrisburg Pennsylvania. More extensive than any other book ever produced on these potteries, Decorated Stoneware Of Cowden fully details the story and history of the nine Harrisburg stoneware manufacturers, moving chronologically from T. H. Willson, Willson's & Young, John Young, William Moyer, J. W. Cowden, Cowden & Wilcox, F. H. Cowden, Cowden & Son, to Cowden & Company . Bid with confidence. I am an eBay power seller .
