This is an AMAZING piece of American History in the most rare form! It's a brown and white stoneware whiskey jug from the heart of Kentucky! The front shows a great message, WHEN EMPTY HURRY ME BACK TO ISERT BROS., Fine Old Whiskies, Wines Etc. Elizabethtown, KY This one gallon jug stands nearly 12 inches tall and is 7 inches across the bottom. Please see pictures for condition as there are several chips and some missing glaze. There are no cracks or hairlines, post firing, to the jug. I researched for hours to find more information on the Isert Bros to no avail so this may possibly be the only jug of it's kind left on this earth!! I am assuming this jug was made pre-prohibition. While searching I did find a story of one bar in Elizabethtown KY that was built on the county line. When one of the counties became 'dry' the bar had to be moved to the other side of the room to accommodate the rules of the county! In the back of my mind I hoped that this jug came from that bar! It's quite possible! Don't miss out on this fantastic piece of history. I will make extra efforts to pack this jug so that it arrives to you safely, double boxed with extra support.
