You are bidding on one large Union Hardware gouge as pictured.It is marked "MFD BY UNION HARDWARE CO TORRINGTON CONN USA" on the neck as shown.Overall length NOT including the handle is about 10-1/8". Overall width, as measured with calipers outside to outside, is very close to 1-3/4" near the sharp end.Getting a sense of size is tough from a couple of pictures, but this is a large and stout tool!Condition of the steel portion is very good, with a sort of a line of faint pitting mostly towards the upper end on the outside. Other than that, it is mostly bright and shiny, with a few scratches. The handle is also in very good condition. This is one of many auctions that I have listed right now with chisels and gouges.SHIPPING: 2 pounds. I tend to rotate back and forth between groups of metal planes and parts for them, and then groups of American and British molding planes, and then back to metallic planes again. But every so often I sneak in something else, such as chisels and gouges, bevels and squares and gauges, books about tools and reprint catalogs, and a variety of other tools. So I might not have any chisels for a month, and then have 30 or 40 chisels all listed at the same time. So please keep watching my auctions! Life is much simpler for me if I disclose what I know or see about an item before you bid, and especially before you receive it in the mail. If I have added or replaced a part, I will tell you. If I think the wedge on a molding plane is not original, I will tell you. If I think a japanned plane has been repainted, I will tell you. What goes around, comes around. RETURN POLICY: I believe that if you give honest descriptions, and include enough pictures, you shouldn't need a return policy. However, that doesn't mean that I won't make an occasional mistake. Please bid with the assurance that if I have made an error in my listing, I WILL take care of you. INSURANCE WHEN SHIPPING INSIDE THE US: The eBay policy about insurance changed dramatically in 2009. You may have noticed that insurance is no longer an option for the buyer as it used to be. Instead the burden is now on the shipper (me) to guarantee that it gets to you, and if I buy insurance, it is for my protection. Within the US, I have a great track record of getting your purchase to you intact, and I only buy (and charge) for insurance as items approach $100 in value.
