Strat Relic Replica 2 Colour Sunburst Nitro Ash Body Heavy Relic Thinning out some of my own guitars, of which this is one; A Vintage Spec Custom Stratocaster hand built to the following Specifications; Body Dense 3 piece Ash, vintage correct 'worm hole' routing and Pre CBS contours, Body finished in thin skin Two Colour Nitro Cellulose (no undercoat) with heavy (but still tasteful) ageing to finish, including sinkage, significant wear, crazing, knocks and scrapes. Neck Good quality aftermarket Skunk striped Maple neck with Rosewood fingerboard, comfortable shallow 'C' contour and 9 1/2 inch radius with medium jumbo frets. Fitted with aged Vintage Kluson Style tuners, an age appropriate decal and aged bone nut. Neck fixing is by steel inserts, stainless machine screws and a thick brass plate, as per photo. Pickups & Electrics Pickups are a Fender TexMex (as used in the Jimmy Vaughan Signature Strat) matched set with patinated Alnico 5 staggered magents and Polysol windings. I make no apologies for these, I've used everything from Bank Breaking Sliders and Lindy Fralins downwards, and these are the ones I like the best. Not harsh or overhot like the Texas Specials (IMHO) or over bright and spangly. Maybe a bit on the dark side but with a TBX tone control they can be brightened up when need be. Wiring is a simple (I like to keep it simple!) master volume and TBX tone control working on all three pickups. The only Mod is the substitution of a large Paper in Oil 0.022mf Cap instead of the Fender Orange Drop one. CTS pots throughout and a 5 position oak type selector switch. Plastics are all hand aged. Bridge. Bridge is a hand aged six point tremelo with Fender stamped bent steel saddles and a full size tremelo block. Bridge is set up slightly floating with three medium springs to the rear (no rear cover) and 9 gauge Ernie Balls, giving a light and sensitive tremelo action. The guitar plays as well as it looks with a comfortable left hand and a radius which whilst looking the part, makes top end leadwork a lot easier than on a full vintage 7 1/2 Radius and the tone is everything it should be for an instrument hand built with such quality components and attention to detail This guitar has the benefit of my background as an antiques restorer and passionate guitar player. The finishes are hand produced with experience and great care using techniques,skills and knowledge acquired over many years.
