Not all strawberry quartz is alike. This is a rare old specimen from a collection I purchased in the 1960's. Found in Magdalena, Mexico, this was the first recorded find of its type. A large crystal specimen, this ways a whopping 10 oz, and is 3 l/2 inches long, 2 inches high and 2 inches deep. I have other specimens, but this is a dandy, and possibly the best for shape and color. Really great deep rose color. I polished a window so you could see what this has. Once again, this is not Russian, Brazilian or Chinese - but the original find from Mexico. Fully terminated crystal. Although it would cut many expensive stones, this is really a spectacular crystal specimen to keep and display. Specimen will be sent priority mail - with insurance...... I will be posting more info on this stone and others in our collection - as my hubby gives me info..... This piece is NOT a scepter revised this listing From Wilkipedia: Strawberry Quartz Quartz with red inclusions of iron oxide is more rarely found, and is often sold under the name strawberry quartz or "red fire" quartz. Some specimens have very fine inclusions, only visible under magnification, lending the quartz a more or less uniformly strawberry color. Others have clearly visible inclusions and may appear as clear quartz with reddish needles, flakes or spangles.Strawberry quartz gets its color from inclusions of various forms of iron oxide. There are four different but chemically related iron oxides that may be found in quartz. They include lepidocrocite (FeO(OH)), goethite (also FeO(OH) but with a different crystal structure), limonite (FeO(OH)*nH2O) and hematite (Fe2O3).
