WE APPRECIATE SERIOUS BIDDERS ONLY ~ PLEASE ~ NO BIDS ACCEPTED FROM PEOPLE WITH (0) FEEDBACK STRIKING BOHEMIAN GARNET PLAQUE PENDANT NECKLACE 1870's All original stones, genuine Victorian beauty New Years is a great time to celebrate the romance in your life so in honor of this coming New Year, I'm declaring this Romantic week and I'll be listing some beautiful, romantic jewelry with very feminine overtones is a beautiful and most interesting Bohemian garnet necklace. It consists of a crescent shaped plaque set with fifty 3mm rose cut hand prong set Bohemian garnets with four applied cluster flowers consisting of seven to nine 1.5mm garnets and one central tear drop shaped cluster of thirteen 1.5mm and one 4mm garnets. All of the stones are original and in near mint condition. The plaque is hanging from a unique gold filled or rolled gold link chain which joins with a round spring clasp. A very elegant and unusual piece. The garnets are all a deep cabernet wine red and sparkle a firey blood red in the light. The photos I have shown are UNEDITED and this is the actual, amazing color! I use a Westinghouse flat screen LCD monitor so if you have a different monitor then the colors may look different to you. Of all the garnet pieces I have sold, this is one that has the most amazing, high grade stones of achingly exquisite color. Have a look at my pictures and you will get a feel for this exceptionally fine piece of jewelry. The garnets are in a solid backed Tombak setting. Tombak is a metal alloy used to mount Bohemian garnets and other jewelry of the time. It consists of a combination of zinc and copper and when mixed in different percentages produces different colors. Both garnet gold and pinchbeck were made from this combination of metals and were used extensively during the Victorian era to make jewelry that closely imitated the wealthy owners' 'real' gold. The plaque measures 2 ¼" wide by just under 1" tall. The necklace measures 7 ½" from the back of the neck to the bottom of the plaque and 15" long from end to end. If you would like this necklace longer an extender or another chain could easily be added to accommodate you. The necklace weighs 10.6 grams and is in excellent antique condition. Ca 1870's.What a romantic and truly unique gift this will make for someone special in your life.
