Up for auction is a vintage, but new in the box, Stromberg Carlson 15" Slim-Line High-Fidelity 16 ohm, coaxial transducer, model RF-483 "Acoustical Labyrinth" Speaker from my late father's electronics inventory. He was a radio repairman for most of his life, and this is part of the radio supplies that he left behind. It has been dry and in a smoke-free environment. I will send it in the original box. Enclosure: The actual low-frequency response of any loudspeaker depends on the size of the enclosure used. The *ACOUSTICAL LABYRINTH loudspeaker enclosure provides extremely low-frequency radiation. The materials from which the labyrinth is constructed absorb the back-wave down to the middle low-frequencies in the vicinity of 100-150 cps. Below this range the labyrinth extends the bass response and smooths undesirable resonances. The improved base loading minimizes frequency doubling or tripling and provides superior transient characteristics. The careful design of this loudspeaker permits its use with any well-designed enclosure to obtain high fidelity reroduction.
