The original telephone receiver is in good condition overall and does work. T is normal wear and scratches for a part a century old. T and NO cracks or chips in either the shell or cap. The nickel plating is decent with some wear in places. The receiver does work as I've tested it to be certain. It receives fine with a clear dial tone. The part will disassemble with ease except for the part that holds in the diaphragm. I couldn't get it to unscrew. As long as it is working and you can wire on your cord t is no real reason why this has to be removed. This part is ready to install and perfect for restoring that old candle stick phone.
