STUDENT PILOT HANDBOOK", 1943, ILLUSTRATED BY RAY FAHRINGER - Published by Books, Inc., in 1943, SPH is printed on a nice slick stock and runs just over 250 pages. Authored by Jack Hunt (foreward by Corey Ford & Alastair Macbain), the book was profusely illustrated by the very talented cartoonist, Ray Fahringer. Perhaps best known for his excellent animation work with Walter Lantz prior to WWII, virtually every page as one or more of Fahringer's work. Designed to be a practical 'you too can fly' book, it contains sequential strips, single cartoons, multi-panel cartoons. Very clever and very professional work, I'm guessing t must be between 400-500 separate cartoons/panels by Fahringer in this volume. Great stuff. It is complete; paper quality remains excellent. Binding is solid, no spine lean. Former owner's inscription on first interior blank page, some foxing along page edges; covers show light wear. The elusive dust jacket is complete but shows wear: light spine fading, wear around folds/edges/corners, some chipping at top/bottom of spine, overall light wear. Really exceptional work - and lots of it. Shipping/handling of $ 5.25 (Priority Mail) to be paid by winning bidder. Money orders/cashier's checks accepted.
