This is a stunning example of an early Majolica Comport or Tazza, made by the "Minton Factory .. Staffordshire", ..... and dating from circa. 1860. This top quality Minton comport is decorated with a relief moulded geometrical central pattern, ... surrounded by an intricate border, ... then finished in a rich glaze typical of majolica wares. The base stamp, which can be seen in the photos, is the minton mark .. BB. This mark was used by the Minton Factory in the mid 19th Century .. and refers to "Best Body". The comport is in very good condition. T are no cracks or chips. No repairs. Top diameter : 9.5 ins. / 24.2 cms. Height : 2.4 ins. / 6.2 cms.
