They used to belong to my Grandfather. The story is: My Grandfather used to be a missionary in Indonesia. After his retirement he brought them home to Holland. How he got them I have never understood but my father thinks they were given to him as a gift from some chief there. This pair is so incredibly nicely detailed. There is a bird, rolling her egg between her legs. Check out the feet above the base. They are raised over the base. This is only one of the many details. This is not just a cheap reproduction wood carved item, like the ones they bring over these days. This one has a lot of vintage and a really nice patina. Just the smooth feeling of the wood will convince you about that. This pair is in excellent condition, there are a few tiny small chips broken of the tails. You really have to look from close by to notice this. They measures 8 inches high. 210139/019
