Item Description:
Up for sale is a stunning and solid teak armchair designed by noted Danish architect Greta Jalk and manufactured by France and Daverkosen (France & Sons) in the early 1960s. This chair is simply in amazing condition. The teak has retained a warm burnt orange glow and has recently been hand rubbed with teak oil to protect its surface. The fabric, springs and support are all original and show little to no wear. The fabric appears to be a jacquard - esque check pattern that has not faded with age or use. T is one small score on the surface of the right arm that is shown in the close-up below and t are a few light scratches to the arms and bottom of the legs - nothing beyond normal age-appropriate wear. As you can see, these minor flaws do nothing to detract from the overall beauty of the piece. Please let me know if you have any questions about this chair as I would be happy to answer them. About Greta Jalk: Grete Jalk (1920-) is both prolific and versatile. Jalk is known both for her individual pieces and for her ability to create entire environments finely tuned to their inhabitant's needs. Jalk also maintained the commitment of many of her contemporaries to experiment with new materials and production processes. She was formally trained at the School of Arts and Crafts, going on to study with Danish master Kaare Klint at the Royal Academy of Arts in Copenhagen. Shipping: The item is located in the heart of Manhattan's Upper East Side (10021). Pick-up is welcome and encouraged. Shipping is also available for a flat-rate $75 via Greyhound. Sorry, no international shipping.
