Click on each photo to see it supersize. Description: I am very pleased to offer this gorgeous example of French majolica. This is one of a pair, so if you like this one be sure to see my auctions next week when I will be offering its twin. This vase measures 6 ½" tall, 4" wide at the top, and 3" deep. Central panels on either side of the vase feature Breton peasants in traditional garb in shades of pale blue, yellow, pink, and deep rose, all on a cobalt blue background within the panel. The base is formed of stylized waves glazed in terra cotta and teal. T are no marks whatsoever, not even a number, but given that this was found in France with a typically French subject, I am pretty confident that it's French and likely dates to around 1920-1930. The condition is superb with no chips, cracks, hairlines, repairs, etc. T is gentle crazing appropriate to its age but it is not at all disfiguring. Shipping weight: 2 lb. 3 oz.
