‘High n Dry’ PORLOCK WEIR, Somerset by E R STURGEON This is a signed limited edition print by the internationally known watercolour artist ‘Dick’ Sturgeon (1920-1999). It was published in 1992, and the edition size was 850 copies. It measures 13.5ins x 10ins and normally retails for £28.80. Porlock Weir lies approximately one and a half miles west of Porlock, Somerset and is a small settlement which has grown up around the harbour. This picturesque hamlet, once a busy port, is a peaceful and delightful harbour for yachts and fishing boats. Nestled at the foot of Exmoor , Porlock Weir is a working harbour with stunning coastal vistas and the ideal place to browse around a small but unique group of shops. Porlock Weir is situated along the South West Coastal Path and a good starting point for walks to Porlock Marsh and Culbone – home to England ’s smallest church. This image pictures a number of small boats in the dry harbour with the lovely cottages in the background. It is one of a set of four Dick painted all with the theme of boats and harbours or coastal scenes. The other three include one of Lyme Regis, Dorset, one of Salcombe, Devon and one of St Michael’s Mount in Cornwall .
