This is the famous ORIGINAL Stutz Bearcat American Sportscar hood ornament. Embossed on the back is: S.M.C. Co of America; Indianapolis, pat. February 2, 1926. The historical Stutz in illustrated in Williams book #260. This one looks like pewter and nickle plated and heavy for its size with some small scratches and polished areas showing the base metal underneath. It has not been polished and yet, one can see that it is in great condition. The head of the bird in the cap of the mascot is missing. The cap is not original to the piece but has strong threads, good chrome and a three inch diameter. Overall this 80 year example of automobile history is dynamic in its presentation. One would be proud to have this one on the car or displayed in a fine china cabinet. Low start with no handling charges. Thank you
