Antique Primitive Sugar Devil Used to loosen hard sugar or dried fruit from barrels. These were made in the 1870's 16.5" long and The auger is 4 1/4" wide. Handle has been replaced not uncommon for these but I dare say not in the last 100 years the notch in handle is a knot in the wood..Looks to have a corner of one side of the handle chewed off by a mouse not much but been chewed on and your to be expected surface, great old patina mixed with rust and a little black paint .. no problems strong as ever.
