Ray Charles ("Sugar Ray") Leonard, (born in 1956 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina), is a retired American boxer who won several Light Welterweight championships, as well as an Olympic Gold Medal (1976). This 8x10 color photo, in excellent condition, shows Mr. Leonard in the ring, poised as for a fight. Mr. Leonard hand-signed this photo (adding "Best Wishes") with a black felt-tip marker. He donated it directly to a NJ Kiwanis club in 1994 for a celebrity auction. This auction includes a letter that accompanied the donation: it's on letterhead, dated December 10, 1994, and signed by his personal secretary. (The letter should serve to authenticate the photo.) This and several other donated items have remained in safe storage until now.
