Sorry for the amount of pictures, I just wanted to detail this group as best as I could!First what this group includes: 700c wheels w/ tires & Quick Release Freewheel Chain (Measures newish, plenty of miles left) Rear Derailleur Front Derailleur 28.6 Clamp Brakes� Brake Levers 40cm Bars measured O-O 105mm Ritchey Stem 170mm Cranks w/ 40/52?� Bottom Bracket (Needs bearings) Shifters for the Down tube Avocet SaddleNext view the pictures below with a caption with more details on each part.� First about the wheels, 700c Wolber Hard Anodized rims, laced 3x on some Sansin sealed bearing hubs. These hubs are not just your typical "sealed" hub with loose ball bearings and a rubber "seal". These wheels are rocking smooth 6001 cartridge bearings, which makes for easy repairs down the road. The wheels are true (straight) and round, no dents, dings, or any other damage. The wheels come with 700 x 23 Hutchinson Quartz tires that look like they have never been ridden. The tubes should be ok, but you might just want to replace them due to age issues. The tires are still soft and� pliable, so they should be good for plenty of miles down the road. Comes with a 7spd 13-22 Suntour freewheelSo the cranks are Suntour made, The Suntour GPX logo is nice and clean on one of the spiders, the arms are 170mm long, the chain-rings are 40 teeth in the small and 53 in the big. There is a little what I would call leopard printing going on with the clear coat, you can see it on the crank arm on the inside of the arm. It is a minor cosmetic flaw, But overall the crank arms and chain-rings look great. The crank bolts pictures are super sexy, they are chromed and have Suntour forged into the metal. The Bottom Bracket is real nice! The cups are English threaded, and the bearing races on both the cups and spindle are in crazy good shape. I threw out the old bearings in the retainer rings, since they are nothing but bad news. Just stop by your LBS and pick up 22 (11 each side) Size: 1/4" loose bearings. At my work they run like 10c a piece for the high grade ones. Running loose vs. retainer will keep your bottom bracket alive for years to come! Cups are stamped Suntour GPX About the brakes, they are Dia-Compe BRS 400, single pivot brakes. The pads are a little hard, something you can fix with some sandpaper. The little rubber "O" rings that held the barrel adjusters in place have rotted away, but they didn't really do much. They are meant for� recessed� brake bridges, so make sure your frame is compatible. They are shorter reach, something to think about, they will work for 90% of the 700c bikes out there. Just not cross bikes or some touring/comfort models. Suntour GPX 7spd shifters, can be used in both friction or indexed. To make Suntour indexing work you MUST use 4mm shifter housing, nothing else will do. Again something you can get at most LBS. Here's where it starts to get good, the rear derailleur.� Cosmetically� all it has is some damage on top of the derailleur where it bolts to the frame, and near the pivot point. The springs are nice and tight, this derailleur should last another 10-20 years with proper care! I am almost certain this group has almost no miles on it. It was ridden at some point, but always garaged and just sat around for a number of years. Suntour pulleys, and lots of shiny chrome. Kind of reminds me of the Shimano 600 derailleur from the same time. How from the outside the pulleys are almost entirely hidden by the plates. The front derailleur is also in great shape, there is a little of the same leopard spotting going on here, but it is minor. The one thing that hurts is that the rider didn't trim this little guy, so the outer plate has the metal worn thin in one spot. I tried to capture it in the pictures, I hope you can make it out. 28.6 Clamp is good for most steel frames, and it is meant for the cable to pull from below.
