See the images. Up for auction is a fantastic group of 1930's Boy Scout items attributed to Scout Harry Etzel, Troop 86, Brockport, New York. Included is: A wonderful 8" x 10" color photograph of Etzel in uniform with merit badge sash, Eagle medal and 1937 National Jamboree patch visible, attached Jamboree emblem at bottom left. He is wearing this uniform, sash and Eagle Medal. Condition good with worn edges and corners, some damage to image as illustrated, still a great '30's Boy Scout portrait. His Eagle medal with gold and silver palms in original case, with his the Eagle Scout award card (March 30, 1935), Gold Palm award card (undated, but named) and Silver Pam award card (16 February 1937). These are generally in decent shape, although the Eagle Scout card has a paperclip rust stain at the left, the Gold Palm card has a crease at the lower left corner and the Silver Palm card has creases at the right side and the lower right corner is close to detached. Also, a 1935 Eagle Court of Honor program, inside with attached photo newspaper clipping of Edzel in uniform with bugle. Eagle medal XF with some fading and fraying to ribbon, case excellent. His uniform shirt (same as in photograph) with Brockport Community Strip, Troop 86 patch, Senior Patrol Leader, three Service Stars, Raven Patrol patch, 3" 1935 National Jamboree patch. Uniform about good with wear, some instances of heavy wear and subsequent fraying, stain to back. His merit badge sash is of the time period, so it has mostly the scarce mid-1930's wide margin merit badges. There are a total of 55 MBs. The front has 42 wide margin MBs, while the back has 13 MBs, of which eight (possibly nine) are wide and the others are narrow. There are some scarce wide MBs here, including Insect Life, Pigeon Raising, Taxidermy, Surveying, Farm Home and Its Planning, Agriculture, Gardening, Weather, Poultry Keeping, Botany, Bugling, etc. Some of these are easly in the $100 and up range. These have been sewn on with cardboard disks behind the merit badges, creating a neat "3-D" appearance. Also on the sash are Etzel's Tenderfoot and Second Class pins and the bronze palm that should be on his Eagle Medal. Also, a very nice Swimming Contest Award Medal - not sure if this is official BSA or not.Etzel, who was born in 1921 and lived with his mother and siblings in Brockport, was signed up for the 1935 National Jamboree that was cancelled at the last moment due to an epidemic, did attend the 1937 National Jamboree. I am offering his uniform with 1937 NJ insignia and the rare RED JACKET COUNCIL strip and his 1937 NJ pennant in separate lots on ebay. NOTE: I am very good about getting my orders out promptly. $6.00 Priority postage.. PAY PAL is now eBay's "required" payment method. I prefer PayPal. Any questions on that, just contact me. Thanks.
