Thislarge, 15.2 gram, fully polished piece all-natural, authentic Dominicanamber from the mines in the Dominican Republic contains an ultra rare, giant winged termite from the genus Mastotermes , species dominicana (now extinct). The only known relatives of this giant termite are found in Australia today. From the tip of its head to tip of its wings, the termite measures around 25 mm (1 inch) in length. There is also a very rare, nicely preserved daddy long legs or harvestman (Pholcid spider, note the long legs) and large flower sepal that resembles a snake in appearance. One can also find a cricket nymph, beetle, ants, and flies. Dominican fossil amber is known for the clarity of its inclusions including such things as insects, arachnids, and botanicals.
