SUPER GLOSSY ATOMIC AGE 1949 RCA 8-X-541 BAKELITE BLAST FROM THE PAST! Sporting a striking new two-tone paint scheme, this five tube radio comes to you from the era of big cars with heavy chrome and wide white-wall tires, Harry Truman, and Ike, and the birth of "Happy Days." The sleek trapezoidal design is a minimalist gem, with the speaker grille repeating the cabinet shape, but with somewhat sharper angles. T is no ornamentation other than the gleaming brass rib dividing the cabinet top and serving as the station index, and the metal foil-backed and lighted dial, which provides a splash of color against the black/cream cabinet. This color combination was selected to complement the angular design and reflect the style of the era. The cabinet has NO cracks, chips, or flaws of any sort. It has been painted with quality Du Pont automotive enamels providing a durable, zero-maintenance high-gloss finish. NO polishes, waxes, oils, or glazes have been applied. The mirror-like finish results in some glare spots and reflections in the photos, but t are no blemishes or imperfections in the paint. The original back, with the internal loop antenna and spring clips, is intact, although showing some minor external signs of wear (abrasions). The original paper label with model number, tube complement and location, and patent information, is largely intact, but has some small edge loss and glue stain. Knobs and dial are original. Extremely close inspection will reveal minute marks on the brass trim which do not show up on the photos or in normal display/viewing. The cabinet measures 11 in. wide (excluding the volume knob), 7 in. high (excluding the brass trim rib), and 6 in. deep. The vertically-mounted plate chassis has been dusted and cleaned carefully with cotton swabs. It was then serviced and should provide years of trouble-free operation. All electrolytic and wax/paper capacitors were replaced with quality modern components. Resistors were checked and replaced w needed. Tubes were tested; any which tested weak were replaced with new ones. Controls and moving parts were cleaned and lubricated. A new power cord and plug was installed for safety. Following electrical restoration, the radio was aligned per original specifications. It plays well, bringing in AM stations across the dial while sitting on my basement test bench. I guarantee proper operation for 90 days. I will repair any electrical faults free of charge for both parts and labor upon return, and will pay for return shipping to you. Evidence of abuse/physical damage will void this guarantee. In the coming weeks, I will be listing equally attractive quality restored table radios from the 1930s, 40s, and 50s.
