SELLING AT AUCTION - NO RESERVE !

A very rare - in it's original wooden box and packing is being offered a Fialex - Southern Company, Nashville Tennessee fire alarm & extinguisher circa 1905- 1918. This is a must have for collectors as this beauty has so many wonderful aspects . The heavy brass bell in the center winds clock wise and has a mainspring as a clock ( I turned it two clicks, it's fine) t is a thermostat that can be set low . med , high and it's factory set on medium. When heat trips the thermostat the bell rings while an arm springs forward tossing a hand blown fire (grenade) filled with water and probably a fire retardant in the general area. In all my thirty years or more in antiques I have never seen one of these in this condition - it's brand new and mint except for some minor blemishes - this is a museum grade collectible to be sure. Mostly you will find these water grenades that hung in a bracket on a wall to be thrown at a fire but you have a mechanical winding device pristine with all of it's components in it's old wooden crate. The packing material is even original with straw , shredded paper and on part of the lid you can see in red "Glass with Care" the rest of the lid is missing but with this item it is a miracle to have survived all of these years and in it's nailed pine box is ready to ship to the collector - ebayer who is the lucky winner. This grenade to note is not of the Red Comet design and does not have a center glass chamber and was produced by Fialex. Also noting this is a Southern Company being distributed from Nashville. Good luck bidding and so some lucky ebayer has a chance at this I am going to start this for $75.00 and will not look back - bid away , good luck and be blessed !

Specifications : Fialex metal component measures 16 1/2 " long with the back plate 2 1/2 inches wide. the brass bell / winding system is 4 " x 2 1/2. Paint is fine to very good with a few light topical rust spots , brass bell has tarnish on it's lacquered surface. Label on back (white) is near mint , excellent. Brass with black painted tags on front are excellent, unit has been in box since manufacture and not mounted.

Box : Pine 23 x 6 x 5 - missing most of lid yet in very fine condition. Contains original fill material of period paper straw , shredded paper , fine paper .

Grenade: Intact and full , some slight scratching to red glaze - no damage

Shipping : Will be packed with care and grenade separate in a well protected box . I will ship at cost yet package will be greater than specifications for protection and security.
