WHAT A LOVELY SET OF MID 18th CENTURY DESSERT SPOONS! EACH IS OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY. And of a good weight and by a very special lady maker indeed. Here we have a quite exceptional and quite lovely set of solid silver bottom marked dessert spoons of good gauge and weight.Hallmarks are deep and clear. Each is assayed in London and dated 1776 (year letter a).All have a maker's mark for very good and highly sought after lady maker Hester Bateman-refer to Jackson's pocket edition page 59.On one spoon the mark is crystal clear and varying on the others but all are definitely stamped with her mark and are identical in every way. This is a lovely early George III lot and a must have. A really delightful and scarce set! Their length is quite large at 7 inches. These lovely spoons are of exceptional quality and each is a most delightful piece of antique table silver. Pattern is old english with a thread border.This is a popular and highly sought after traditional pattern. Weight of actual silver is a good 181 grams (5.82 troy ounces),each piece is made of very thick gauge silver throughout. The condition is superb and they are of superior quality and condition.The bowls are of perfect shape with a thick unworn rim and tip.For accuracy one has a small split at the bottom of the stem,a good silversmith could work wonders on this one spoon. Each is engraved with a lovely crest and always has been,definitely no erasures either. Please note that i have listed many other good items of both modern and antique silver,please do have a look. A truly beautiful,special and most wonderful lot. Would be ideal for making up a canteen of this popular pattern. PERFECT FOR USE ALL YEAR ROUND,DINE IN REAL STYLE!
