This auction is for an excellent quality retro item from NINO which runs on a lovely AUTOMATIC (self winding) Schild 2072 movement. The ‘Jump Hour’ technology actually emerged in the early 20 th Century and was revived in the late 60’s and early 70’s when it really found its market. Jump Hour watches come in varying styles and grades but it is rarer to see an automatic movement with THREE JUMP HOUR DIALS present – hours, minutes AND seconds. This is a heavy duty watch folks with in total original condition with its original clasp signed bracelet. It has the quintessential SPACE AGE design about it as this was of course produced in the year immediately following the 1969 Moon Landings. It is in excellent working order and represents a great opportunity to own a fantastic and individual genuine retro item. Don’t miss out! The Dial The dial is signed for NINO DIGITAL AUTOMATIC at the right hand side above where it says SWISS MADE. There is of course nothing ‘digital’ about this watch other than the unusual jump hour display which shows the ‘digits’ and not analogue hands. It is a wonderful irony that the early ‘digitals’ were in fact high functioning mechanical and automatic movements. On the left hand side we have the three dials – at the outer edge the hour, then minutes and finally the seconds dial which is constantly moving. Please note the dials are also TIERED – the hour lies at the lowest point, gradually rising up to the seconds dial. The casing is clearly part of the draw and appeal here as the dial itself is relatively small in comparison to the rest of the ‘face.’ It truly appears like a Space Age creation! Measurements It measures: 40mms across including the crown 37mms top to bottom not including the lugs 9mms deep Movement The movement is an AS 2072 – stamped X4 A23 17 JEWELS SWISS. It is currently in great working order, keeping good time. Please note however that vintage watches cannot be guaranteed and it is always advisable to have them serviced at regular intervals to protect your investment . Cosmetic Condition Cosmetically, overall this looks fantastic but please note there are some age related signs of use. The casing shows light surface marks and although the photos bring them up very clearly, they are not nearly as prominent when seen on the wrist – they are also a good testament to the authenticity of the piece – this is not a repro! The other thing to note is that the crystal has three flaws – they do not affect the visual experience and performance is not affected either – at some point in the future though it would be worth looking into a replacement. The plating overall is in very good condtion. Most importantly, please study the photos and make your own assessment prior to bidding. Strap It comes on its original bracelet with signed NINO clasp – it measures up to approx 8.5 inches – we have no further links to add.
