A Superb and rare 19th century marine shell seal box , the front compartment for the seal and the two back compartments for the ink or wax pads. Decorated on the lid with a basket of flowers, finely inlaid with mother of pearl,abalone shell and mixed metals including gold? (untested) and silver with the the two interior lids similarly decorated it measures just 6cms or 2.25ins by 4.5cms or 1.75ins. Condition : Very good for age and use with only slight loss to the inlay on the lid,very minor chip to back right hand corner (can really only be seen through a magnifying glass) and the hinge has been repaired to one of the interior lids.
