RARE and UNUSUAL beautiful hand-painted antique 19th Century Chinese porcelain pottery bowl.We are offering a wonderful find for the collector of unusual Asian porcelain and pottery! This extraordinary piece is hard to describe because words and pictures don't do it justice. The simplicity of design, the soft subtle colors and the raised and dimensional tree flower buds all combine to give an elegant, almost etal, quality to the bowl. By weight, this is substantial at around 2 pounds, but the artistry lends it a delicacy not found in more commercial modern pieces often seen for sale. I have been told that it is late 19th century Chinese. But I am not certain of this, and it could be Korean or Japanese; it is not signed and this is not my area of expertise, so if anyone reading this can shed additional light on its origins I would appreciate it very much. 8 & 1/4" diameter top rim, 4 & 5/8" diameter bottom base, 2 & 7/8" high. No cracks, chips or dings. Any marks seen in the photos are color and glazing irregularities, scratches, and general wear - NOT damages. T is wear, and marks that are part of the glaze. If you look at the last photo, the close-up of the moon, you can see beneath the moon what appears to be an intermittent streak of blue (see arrow), but that is under the glaze.
