Exceptional Edwardian 9ct Rose Gold Plate 15 Jewel Waltham Full Hunter Pocket Watch c1903. Overview: A fine early Waltham Full-Hunter gentleman’s timepiece in remarkable condition, “it is hard to believe that this watch is 109 years old”! The 15 jewelled high grade Waltham movement is in superb condition, fully serviced; no attention to detail has been missed, the finely damascened and frosted design has been carefully applied to the movement plates by a true craftsman, this detail is still sharp, bright and clear as the day it was applied; the ruby jewels are set in fine red gold chaton’s and screwed in for accuracy, the balance bridge carries the highly accurate Waltham star micro-regulator and register scale for precision timing. The watch is running strong and true to time, as it should; Waltham watches, when cleaned and serviced correctly are superb time keepers, they are generally of a higher quality and more robust than there Swiss and English contemporaries. The large heavy full-hunter case does not disappoint either, it is in beautiful condition, with no staining or discolouration, every surface, inner and outer, have a perfect deep mirror finish; as you can see from the photographs, it looks like solid gold. The bow and crown are without wear, the outer and inner cover lips and hinges are without damage, these areas are nearly always damaged and strained through clumsy opening. The Movement: Is a beautiful nickel plate 15 Jewel movement, running strong with a full and reassuring beat to the balance wheel, meaning both main spring and hair spring are in perfect condition. The movement escapement features include: a cut compensation bimetallic two arm balance wheel, blued steel breguet over-coil hairspring, red gold meantime screws for precise timing, brass balance screws; the engraved balance bridge has a ruby jewel end stone, set in a flush gold chaton, screwed in, and is fitted with a highly accurate Waltham star micro regulator, and engraved register scale, allowing the movement to be precisely adjusted for accurate time keeping. A.W.C.Co Waltham Mass 15 Jewel is embossed on the movement plate. The watch movement and case have been cleaned, with the movement serviced, timed and regulated and now keeps good time on a full wind; the watch is wound and set by the crown and this function operates smoothly and precisely as it should; the movement serial number is: 12439384 this dates the movement to c1903. The Case: Is a 9 carat rose gold plate case by the "Supreme Watch Case Co U.S.A. this is a good heavy strong case with little or know damage; the front cover lifts sharply on a strong spring, to the 90deg when the crown is depressed as it should, and closes tight, all hinges remain strong and firm, with no play and all covers snap shut tight.
