This auction is for a wonderful early 20th century Newcomb Macklin Frame, gold with excellent patina throughout its surface. Dates to approximately the 1920-30's. This frame has the fabulous, rich deep patina that you just can't achieve on any contemporary gilt frame. Beautifully carved. Please view all photos to see the wonderful details of this frame. T his frame has one of the red Newcomb Macklin stamps "NM Co" and retains its original pencil model number labeling on the back "#539 1/2-30." The painting opening size from the back measures 17 3/8" by 23 7/8" making a perfect fit for a 17 1/2" by 24" fine painting. The outside frame measurements are 20 3/4" by 27 1/4". The frame is about 2" wide and about 1 1/4" thick (from front to back). This hand-carved frame is in 8 out of 10 condition. Once polished, the frame should be even better. The frame does have some blemishes and flaking typical with a frame of this age. The front of the frame is great and in a nice wonderful original condition. All questions welcomed.
