Here on offer is a superb antique RoyalDoulton Lambeth tobacco jar dating to between 1880 and 1891. The front of the tobacco jar has 'TOBACCO' in dark brown framed by an incised frame containing raised floral garlands . The back has an ornate cameo in rich dark brown and white, in shallow relief. Above and below is ribbed border accented in rich brown glaze. The lid has a the dark brown glaze to the finial of the knob with a floral garland in relief held in incised concentric circles. The body of the tobacco jar has been made from stoneware. The tobacco jar is, unusually, in near mint condition as these wares are prone to damage. The base has the impressed mark for Royal Doulton Lambeth stoneware that was used from 1880 to 1891. The base also has embossed and incised marks for the artist Emily M Viner. This tobacco jar is being offered in excellent antique condition. It measures about 14.5cm tall and 11cm in diameter, it weighs 539g.
