Description A beautiful early dated antique Victorian solid sterling silver vesta/match case by the silversmith William Neale and with full English silver hallmarks for Chester 1889 . Really nice quality example with a hinged silver lid and a serrated silver striker on the base. Decorated with handsome deep diagonal fluting and with a partially gilded interior. Measurements Measures approx 1.65 inches (41mm) x 1.2 inches (30mm) and is 0.4 inches (10mm) deep. Date Victorian Sterling silver with a set of English silver hallmarks for Chester 1889 (date letter "F"). Further hallmarks on the lid too. Maker William Neale (W.N). Condition Good condition, no splits or cracks, no solder repairs, and no nasty knocks or dents either, 1 tiny pin-head dent on the lid, but really nothing much. The silver lid hinge works perfectly and the lid opens and closes tightly and still has a good strong spring. Lovely unusual deeply fluted decoration.
