I am selling this magnificent 6 piece part Coalport tea service c 1880, which comprises of a small teapot and cover, a sucrier and cover, a milk / cream jug and a saucer. The teapot fits beautifully into the well of the saucer but I am sure that it is not a teapot stand. The part set is unmarked but I handled an identical set many years ago and if you are still in doubt this famous Coalport handle can be seen as Plate 893, on p149 of the Michael Berthoud's classic reference book 'An Anthology of British Cups'. Indeed my previous experience of this exact shape / design included a tray, which leads me to be fairly convinced that these pieces once constituted part of either a cabaret or solitaire set. In any event they are of an extremely high quality and in perfect condition, with no cracks, chips, restoration or gilding loss. In order to be exact and precise there are two minor blemishes to which I need to draw to your attention as follows. a) There is some minute crazing on some of the pieces and on the sucrier some brown staining has crept into the crazing in the rim in which the lid sits and extends a little around the outside of the rim. I don't see this as a problem for I am sure that it will easily clean. b) There is a 1.5cm very faint surface crack downward from the teapot rim but this does not extend to the gilding around
