This is a superb 2 day marine chronometer with Pools Aux. Balance. Made in Newcastle in 1845 by Reid and Sons. No. 1118. This chronometer was taken into the Admiralty in March 1944 from L. Gibson Esq. to help with the war effort. It was sent to Mercer for overhaul then presented to the Canadian Government. The chronometer is in a rosewood case and has its original outer case as well. The chronometer case measures approx. 7 inches by 7 inches and the mahogany outer case measures approx, 9 and a quarter inches by 9 and a quarter inches. It is in excellent condition being overhauled and cleaned recently at a cost of almost $500. There is a crack on the top of the chronometer case which can easily be filled if required. Being sold with a copy of the chronometers history and with no reserve. A wonderful example of a superior antique British 2 day marine chronometer.
