A superb 1920s original vintage oak office desk chair/captains chair with later red leather upholstery. The chair has a nice shaped top rail on shaped arms which sweep around and terminate in simple scrolls. The arms rest atop shaped supports to the sides and lovely turned cigar shaped spindles around the rear. The 19.5 inch wide seat has been later upholstered in a nice red leather with a studded finish. The legs mortice into the seat section like that of a windsor chair. The front legs are nicely turned and taper terminating in a club foot, the rear legs are plain but kick out nicely and all are united by a twin cigar shaped stretcher. The chair retains much of its original finish although there is wear to the top rail and arms as you would expect. Some marks and scratches to the frame and arms and some marks to the upholstery, usual wear to the legs and some later additional screws have been added to the stretchers for added support. Some shrinkage gaps in places and some light movement to the legs but nothing serious. This is an old chair and not brand new but its very comfortable and supportive and free from worm. Would look great in a traditional home or office environment. Buyer is welcome to collect or delivery can be arranged. Postage is possible but would cost £20.
