Title: Untitled Impressionistic Landscape
Medium: Oil on Canvas, Mounted on Cardboard Age: Circa 1910 Artist Information: Unknown, purchased at an Ohio estate sale. Size: 23 by 17 inches, canvas size; 29 by 23 inches including the outer dimensions of the frame. Description: Extremely well done impressionist oil on canvas. Lots of thickly applied oil paint, great colors throughout. The handling of light and shadows in the paintings is exceptional, suggestive of a well trained and skilled artist. An incredible decorative painting that is sure to be enjoyed for years to come. Note that the frame is an antique lemon gold, gold gilded frame with very nice composition decorations on the outer rail. Painting came from the southern Ohio area. Considering the quality of the work combined with the antique frame, this piece is an exceptional value. Condition: The paint surface appears to be very stable. There are few small areas of paint loss, specifically a small nick to right of the tree top and along the right edge of the painting. As you can see from the photos, they do not interfere with the presentation of the painting, ready to hang as is. The frame has several chipped/missing areas along the outer rail, easily repaired. The frame is period and is a real treasure in its own right. Also note there are a few touched up areas on the frame. In all, this is a good looking painting that can be displayed just as it is.
