SUPERB EARLY "DANSETTE MAJOR DE LUXE" RECORD PLAYER - RED & GREY CHECK *** Fully Serviced *** This is a lovely example of an original "Dansette Major De Luxe" record player from 1959 that is in perfect working order and extremely nice condition for its age. This is one of the earliest Dansette record players, evident from the original 'check' patterned leatherette, brass Dansette badge and 'UA8' autochanger - the amplifier is dated 1959 making this 53 years of age. The valved amplifier has been fully serviced with any worn or suspect components replaced and it now plays with a powerful sound reproduction with excellent volume and a wide range on the tone control. The four speed 'BSR UA8' autochanger will load up to ten records of any size and will play at 16, 33, 45 and 78 rpm. It has been correctly lubricated and adjusted for reliable operation. I have fitted a replacement cartridge that is stereo compatible (as the original cartridge fitted to this was mono, which is not suitable for playing stereo records). The cartridge is one of the most expensive parts to change, so if buying a non restored Dansette, it is imperative to check the cartridge has been replaced for something capable of playing stereo records safely.
