Description A beautiful large antique early Victorian solid sterling silver vinaigrette by the silversmith Edward Smith, in Lovely Condition and with full English silver hallmarks for Birmingham 1848 . Excellent quality example by top maker, stunning decorative engraved scroll-work with an attractive shaped/fluted border edge. Protruding engraved silver thumb nail on the front to assist opening. Gilded interior with ornate pierced and engraved hinged grill. Original attached silver bale ring and with No added engraved inscriptions or monograms in the cartouche. Measurements Great size, measures approx 35mm x 24mm and is 9mm deep. Date Antique English Victorian Solid Sterling silver with a full set of English silver hallmarks for Birmingnham 1848 (date letter "Z"). Excellent clear struck hallmarks. Includes the sovereigns duty mark of Queen Victoria. Maker Silversmiths initials "E S", (Edward Smith). Condition Lovely condition , no obvious repairs, no wear holes, and no nasty knocks or dents either.
