WELCOME TO MY CHRYSANTHEMUM & GARDEN FLOWERS AUCTION!! Chrysanthemums are one of the top Garden favorites and belong to the huge Compositae family (more than ONE TENTH of the world's flowers belong to this family!!) which encompasses the many, many types of Chrysanthemums, Daisies, Dahlias, Asters, Calendulas, Rudbeckias, and Zinnias to name a few. Amongst Florists, the Mum reigns supreme for one of the longest lasting cut flowers around. I LOVE Roses, but put them in a vase and within 2 days, they're starting to fadc. The hardy Chrysanthemum can last for days upon days and still look - you got it - Fresh as a Daisy!! The Chinese cultivated thes flowers way back in 500 B.C. It wasn't until the 18th Century that they found their way to Europe w they are almost as popular as the Rose. From the tiny Michaelmas Daisy or the Button Mum to the giant Dinner Plate Dahlia - it is an impressive family of flowers with a wide range of appeal. Please see my beautiful and very fine porcelain listed in my auction - all exquisitely hand painted with Mums or similar Garden flowers. This beautiful Limoges Plate is wonderfully painted. The artist, J.M. Reid, has painted gorgeous Golden Yellow Chrysanthemums with majestic Queen Anne's Lace showing amongst the Mums. What a wonderful combination.
