This is a superb Princess Elizabeth doll with the most amazing face. She dates from 1929. Her pale blue/grey glass eyes open and close perfectly. all of the original eyelid wax is intact. There are top and lower painted eyelashes and multi stroke eyebrows. Her smiling open mouth reveals four original teeth. She was made by Schoenau & Hoffmeister and is clearly impressed on the back of her head - Porzellanfabrik Burggrub - Princess Elizabeth - 3 1/2 - Made in Germany - D.R.G.M. She measures 17 inches (43 cms). I guarantee her head has no hairlines, chips or restorations. She has a good clear bisque. Her blonde wig is not her original but it is quite similar to what she would have worn and suits her beautifully. Her body is in lovely condition with its original paint and sheen, all of the fingers and toes are good and have their original red paint strokes. She is wearing a dress made from vintage fabric which is a copy of what she would have worn. She has a cotton vest and underpants, her leather shoes have been handmade. I have added the imitation pearls, as she would have originally worn a pearl necklace. A lovely example of a doll with a lot of historical significance.
