This 9" tall Ottoman candlestick was most likely used by Nomads travelling the desert. This candlestick is very decorative with elegant proportions and elaborate tear drop and bulbs decor along the shaft. It is in very good cleaned condition with a nice golden shine and minimal surface wear. The underside of the base has been completely turned smooth. The surface has minimal scratching and denting from many centuries of use. The joint is tight. This candlestick has a 2" restoration in the edge along the base and a spot restoration in the raised base visible in the last pictures. Some very minor scratches and dents are evident in the pictures and can be expected based on its age. It stands solid and the joint is stiff. For reference see "The Brass Book" by Peter, Nancy and Herbert Schiffer, page 153, fig. A, for a very similar candlestick. This great stick is 9 inches tall and the base is 7 inches in diameter. The large candle hole is almost 2 inches deep. This is a rare and wonderful perhaps 400 year old candlesticks for your enjoyment and presents a great investment as well.
