SUPERB VICTORIAN HUSSARS OFFICER'S PILL BOX CAP A fabulous example made from dark blue melton cloth expertly fashioned into eight segments to the crown. Gold bullion cord piping to the welt of the crown. The centre of the crown is ornamented with gold bullion cord forming concentric circles, the outer circle being looped. Large netted gold bullion dome button to the centre. Lined with quilted crimson silk with faint gold tooled tailor's details to the centre for:- "Hamburger, Rogers & Co., Covent Garden, London." Buff leather drawstring sweatband. Complete with slender black leather chin strap (these are often absent). Very good condition maintaining it's firm rigid shape - Minor service wear, expected age toning to the gold lace.
