A VERY FINE STERLING SILVER TEA SET, c1836, WILLIAM IV to QUEEN VICTORIA. An elegant linen drape form with profuse acanthus leaf decoration, floral finials classic early Victorian form of squat bulbous fluted shape, similar to flowing linen. Flaring Chippendale rim splash accentuated and reinforced. T extured and stippled acanthus leaf, high swept handles with old ivory insulators. Made by Edward Barnard, Edward Barnard Jr., John Barnard and William Barnard. Heavy weight. High quality. Gilded interior to creamer and sugar bowl. Weights and measures: Coffee pot 9" tall 10-1/2" across 905 grams 31.9 oz (postal scale) Teapot 7" tall 11-1/2" across 770 grams 27.1 oz (postal scale) Sugar Bowl 5-1/4" tall 8-1/2" across 395 grams 13.9 oz (postal scale) Creamer/Jug 7" tall 5-1/2" across 290 grams 10.2 oz (postal scale) Marks struck cleanly on all pieces. Also struck on the handles and the flower finials (a sign of quality). T are no dents or dings. No loose hinges. The ivory insulators are discolored but the handles are firm and do not jiggle! The tray shown in the pictures is not included in the auction. T are no monograms and t are no erasures. The sugar bowl was designed not to have a cover. I will answer any questions promptly.
