This camera is from the 19th Century, and is for collodion, (wet plate) plates. The condition is superb. It is made from mahogany, with fine dovetails, brass binding and brass screws to even more strengthen the body of the camera. It comes with focusing screen, one wet plate plate holder, Dallmeyer 8-1/2" brass Petzval type lens and an added back conversion which allows either 2 x 3"x 2-1/4" plates or with a little judicious carpentry this could produce panoramic negatives of 6-1/2" x 3-1/4" dimensions. The lens dates from 1877.The weight of the camera with lens and focusing screen is about 10 pounds, or 4.7 kg.The total weight of the outfit in its strong wooden box, (from a later period), is 11.7 kgs. There is a 5"x4" conversion frame which fits in the whole plate holder to accept 5x4 plates. It can of course also accept whole plates. Whole plate is 8-1/2" x 6-1/2".The lens is actually for up to 7"x 5" negatives, but will cover more in close up photographs. The camera has a tripod bush underneath and I am supplying a bolt with a butterfly nut to secure it. It will benefit of course from a strong tripod. The wooden case measures 21" x 13-1/4" x 13-1/2".For the full whole plate you would need a 10-1/2" focal length lens. I will be putting a Dallmeyer brass RR of this focal length on on Saturday. Other lenses would of course also suit.Shipping
