Superb Vintage Hand Embroidered Jacobean Style Irish Linen Tablecloth This is another stunning piece from my collection of heirloom linens embroidered in a style I would attribute to Jacobean influence. The quality of the stitch work is superb, detailed and obviously worked by an expert. Something to enjoy looking at.I love the beautiful and unusual combination of colours selected for this tablecloth - perfect for this style. This would look superb in a period inspired home with antique wood or maybe to treasure and keep for a personal collection. Perfect for gift giving. I always wrap very carefully with fine quality tissue paper and pretty satin ribbons. I have, as always, taken many imagesso that it is easier to appreciate and study the amazing needlework skills ofthose who created these heritage pieces from a bygone era. Please do so as they reflect the care, time & patience that has been spent on this beautiful work. I like to think the images speak for themselves. However, I always aim to highlight all the relevant aspects in the detail below. The Details: The flowers are in varying shades of pinks, purple, lavender and mauve with Prussian and light blue and accents of golden yellow. The foliage is in shades of dark and light greens, olive, tan, caramel and dark brown. These are complimented with extensive embroidery in a pretty ecru colour. There is a great amount of work in this piece embroidered to a very high standard with closely worked graduated satin stitch, Lovely to run your fingers over and feel the silkiness of the texture. The tablecloth is dominated with a large 4" deep scalloped, shaped border edged with ecru and filled with the most exquisite floral work. Please see Images 1 -9 Image 10 is the detail at each of the four corners. The material used is a quality cream coloured Irish linen neatly finished with a machine stitched hem. Measurements: 33.5" x 32" (85cm x 81cm) Condition: Excellent vintage. Very carefully stored and appears to have had little use. It has been freshly laundered and carefully ironed so the linen is beautifully clean and the embroidery is clear,vibrant and with no sign of rubbing. A beautiful piece. Please take time to read the following helpful information I always aim to describe my linens as accurately as I can. It has been newly laundered and air dried for added freshness. I iron all my embroidery and lace work on the reverse side so the detail is enhanced. I do not use harsh bleaches/detergents/ chemicals/ tumble dryers etc. I pack very carefully with acid free tissue paper and a satin ribbon, bubble wrap and brown paper to what I hope is a high standard. My linens have been treasured by generations and I like to show them, their previous owners and my buyers respect by taking care in this way. I do not charge for packing etc. I take time and care in presenting my linens and I am happy to supply all the packing free of charge, especially in view of the recent increase in postage costs. If I have over estimated the postage I always refund the difference. Sometimes, I can manage to post as large letter for UK buyers when I go the post office and can therefore adjust the postage accordingly. I am always pleased to combine purchases to help cut down the cost for my buyers.
