VINTAGE (1889) SILVER ENGLISH LEVER FULL HUNTER POCKET WATCH – Signed Dial - John Kellie, 19 Norton Street, Liverpool 8/5216 - working On offer is a very special vintage silver English Full Hunter pocket watch thatis working. This is a unique opportunity to acquire a special pocket watch made by John Kellie - Late of the firm Thomas Russell. The very heavy full hunter silver case is in clean condition - there are a few scratches and wear marks on the back as can be expected for a watch of this vintage. The silver case is hallmarked Chester 1889. The case back and front close shut as expected and measures 50mm in diameter (excluding bow) and is 15mm thick. The going barrel lever movement is superbly gilt plated and presented in a very clean condition and signed John Kellie, 19 Norton Street, Liverpool 8/5261 late of the firm of Thomas Russell & Son . The balance wheel is temperature compensated and incorporates gold timing screws. The balance cock is nicely decorated. The movement incorporates a jewelled (Liverpool window) bearing for the second hand wheel. The brass dust cover is also present. The watch appears to be running reasonably to time but I cannot guarantee perfect timing with a mechanical watch. The movement is wound from the rear and set from the front. The signed (" John Kellie, 19 Norton Street, Liverpool 8/5261 ") white enamelled dial is in excellent condition apart from a tiny hairline (only really visible under a magnifying glass), this is hardly noticeable when the front cover is closed. The dial has gold minute and hour hands. The dial also incorporates a seconds dial with blued second hand. The crystal (glass) is in mint condition with no scratches.I have provided quite a few photographs to highlight the quality of this particular pocket watch. Reason for selling: I am starting to collect verge watches and I need to sell off some of my collection. There is no key supplied with this watch but these can be obtained easily from ebay. This is a great opportunity to buy a very clean highly presentable pocket watch which will only appreciate in value. Pocket watches with a signed makers dial are always more collectable than those without. This particular watch is rather unusual due to its maker's pedigree.I am starting the bidding at £60 - because of the signed dial and interesting movement. I aim to post all purchases within three days following payment. If you are bidding from overseas please contact me before bidding.
